Safeguarding
Sport 2 Aspire Foundation fully recognises the responsibility it has under section 175 of the Education Act 2002, to have arrangements in place to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
Through their day-to-day contact with students and direct work with families all staff in school have a responsibility to:
Identify concerns early to prevent them from escalating
Provide a safe environment in which children can learn and develop;
Identify children who may benefit from early help;
Know what to do if a child tells them he/she is being abused or neglected;
Follow the referral process if they have a concern.
This policy sets out how Sport 2 Aspire statutory responsibilities relating to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children who are students at Sport 2 Aspire. Our policy applies to all staff, paid and unpaid, working for the provision, including community coaches/mentors, supervisors, and office staff as well as anyone who may be the first point of contact and/or disclosure for a child.
Concerned parents/carers may also contact the provision.
If there are concerns, about a child or young person, there may need to share information to other relevant agencies. While we endeavour to discuss this with the parents/carers first, we may be unable to do this if we have reason to believe this would be contrary to the child or young person’s welfare.
It is a requirement for all staff to read and agree to Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE, 2022) and we actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.
